William Valcarcel lived in this street in Queens......... the street was named after him after he died in the 9-11 attacks.

It's the 11th anniversary of the attacks today. The names of all those who died were read in New York the City and the silences were observed.

In Egypt a mob attacked the US embassy and tore down the American flag. Sadly the attack was inspired by religious outrage at some perceived insult to the Prophet.

The US embassy put out this statement after the attack:

The Embassy of the United States in Cairo condemns the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims, as we condemn efforts to offend believers of all religions. Today, the 11th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States, Americans are honoring our patriots and those who serve our nation as the fitting response to the enemies of democracy. Respect for religious beliefs is a cornerstone of American democracy. We firmly reject the actions by those who abuse the universal right of free speech to hurt the religious beliefs of others.

An attempt to try and reason with religious fury over a perceived insult ......... in a small film........... Apparently financed by Dutch funders?

The whole attack on the Towers was nominally to revenge the insult of non believers being in the land of the Prophet and the Holy places ....... Saudi Arabia .........

I really feel 'taking insult' should be addressed........ there really can be no place for it in modern society......... it's not really the insulters but those who act with violence against perceived insult who are the problem in all religions ......... modern people should just let it go........ its the act of taking insult and acting with the self righteousness of religious fury that really is the problem.
